I know this work, hell, I wrote it. Why am I totally freaking out? Any suggestions on how to calm down and focus on the big ideas and the idea that I know what I'm talking about with my dissertation would be so greatly appreciated!

Edits are Kicking My Butt

The suggested edits to Chapter 3 are totally kicking my butt! I am not sure if I made the right changes or not. I guess I will find out because I meet with my Director tomorrow.

Still wondering if email truly is an "old" technology now!

Questions Raised by Research

1. Is email "old" technology?
2. Are conversations at a gathering "private"? Should they not be shared on the Internet?
3. Do you get upset when someone you are with checks email, Facebook, etc.?
4. Is multi-tasking bad or good?
5. How do you / do you use Second Life?

Well, Chapter 2 has been approved...done with my huge philosophy chapter, thank goodness!! Moving on to Chapter 3. Hopefully, it moves more quickly from this point forward. Those who have done it, does it get any easier?

Proposal Approved!!

I am so excited! I finally get to start writing my chapters! First, ECA and then writing, writing, writing.

Proposal Defense Date Set!

So after a year plus of reading and writing, I finally have a defense date of April 11! I am so excited and only a bit nervous, I'm sure I will become more nervous as the date nears. Any tips from those who have been there / done that?

Reading, reading, reading

I don't seem to be moving forward on my proposal as I keep having to read more...and that takes time and sets me back in my planning...

How do I quickly move through the literature and on to the writing / defending phase? Any thoughts from those that have been through this?

Good Meeting...

It seems that although I was nowhere near complete with my lit. review, that I was on the right track with everything else. Yay!! Now I get to revise and add to the proposal and meet with my Director again in 2 weeks....

Moving forward is always a good thing!

Finally...

my Director finally got back to me.... We are meeting on Friday to review my proposal. Now I get to be nervous about how far off I was.

for feedback. Slowly losing my mind. Trying to keep moving forward, but it's tough since I don't know if I'm going in the right direction or not.

Well, it is definitely a "rough" draft, but I submitted my proposal to my Director! Now I will wait for his response.

Lit. Review...

is kicking my a**!! I don't know why. I just can't seem to remember how to coherently do a lit. review. It is the last piece of my proposal that needs to be completed and the last piece for the past month now. You would think that I could have this thing finished and submitted for review by now...but NO!! My brain and motivation do not want to cooperate!!! Give me strength...Give me guidance...Give me FOCUS!!

Any thoughts on how to get there?

Just Curious...

As I am reading the articles and statistics, it seems that many people (72% of women & 51% of men) would acknowledge forming an on-line relationship; whether friendship or romantic relationship. Do you feel that this number is high? Have you ever considered someone you met online as a friend, or even dated someone you have met online? Again, just curious.

It is Only a Draft!!!

I must keep reminding myself that the proposal that I have been working on FOREVER is only a draft. I do not need for it to be perfect for the first submission...I just need it to be complete. Hoping to submit today or tomorrow at the latest...

Late Night / Early Morning Ideas

About 2:00 this morning I had an insight as to how to layout my dissertation chapters. Yes, I did get out of bed, go into the office, and jot down my ideas. I even came up with a preliminary title. Not sure if it will stick. If anyone is reading, what do you think of this title:

Wasted Day...

I spent well over 2 hours looking for one statement from Aristotle's Politics. Searching the document did not work. I knew it was there, and when I finally found it I was totally burnt out!!

Hoping for a more productive day tomorrow.

Time to Start Writing!!

I emailed my Director with a question yesterday..."How do I know when to stop reading and start writing?" I received his response today. "No more books in the lit review. Stop now. You can incorporate new material in the project as you proceed. The lit review is not a limit, it's an account of the basic conversation(s) in which the project is located."

It is time to get the proposal written and the whole process moving forward!!
